socket spanner tool box
Made for a friend who had purchased an expensive set of socket spanners that arrived in a cheap plastic box that failed its purpose fairly quickly. I could probably be accused of overkill here but I enjoyed designing and making a tool box that was not only fit for purpose but looked good. Made from American white Oak with dovetailed corners and the top and bottom captivated in a groove. His initials were carved into the top and filled black. The sockets were held in place on an internal mechanism that allowed the socket to be lifted from the level of the others for ease of removal from the box. the box was finished in 2 coats cellulose sander sealer + 3coats melamine lacquer. Clear wax being the last coat applied.
